Cavernoma Alliance

Cavernoma Alliance UK (CAUK) supports people affected by cavernoma (abnormal blood vessels in the brain and spinal cord often causing severe neurological challenges), a condition also known as cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM), cavernous angioma and cavernous haemangioma.

Until advances in medical screening became widely available in the 1980’s, cavernoma in living patients was relatively unknown. About 150 people are diagnosed with symptomatic cavernoma annually, although it is estimated that 1 in 625 people has an asymptomatic cavernoma. Our mission is to create greater awareness amongst clinicians and the public as well as improve understanding for all those affected by cavernoma.
