Performing a structured review in COPD

  • A good review of a person with COPD should be holistic covering a review of the diagnosis and assessment of current symptoms
  • Clinical assessment (including examination, symptom score, FEV1, exacerbation rate, smoking status, concordance and inhaler technique) are fundamental to good care
  • Co-morbidities are important to both consider, assess for and manage in a person with COPD
  • There is good evidence that good care will result in better outcomes – and we can make a difference
