Dr Sarah Wakelin qualified in 1988. She completed her dermatological training as a senior registrar in the department of cutaneous allergy at St John’s Institute of Dermatology prior to being appointed as a consultant dermatologist at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare Trust, London in 1999.
Dr Wakelin’s special interest is in allergic and inflammatory skin diseases. She is a London representative for the British Contact Dermatitis Society and a member of the British Association of Dermatologists Therapeutics and Guidelines committee. She is the lead clinician for adult skin allergy diagnostic services at Imperial College Healthcare NHS trust and was the consultant in charge of an oral retinoid & psychodermatology parallel clinic until 2017.
Dr Wakelin has written many original articles, chapters and books, including A Handbook of Systemic Drug Treatment in Dermatology.
