Georgina McNamara

Executive lead nurse for education, UK Sepsis Trust

Biography

Georgina McNamara is the executive lead nurse for education for the UK Sepsis Trust and has co-developed a national programme for healthcare and non-healthcare workers.

George is one of the founder members of the Trust, has a background in the care of the acutely ill and was one of two nurses in the UK to work as a sepsis nurse practitioner with a project funded by the National Institute for Healthcare Research. George worked with Dr Ron Daniels to develop the Sepsis Six, and then demonstrated that patients who received the Sepsis Six within an hour were half as likely to die as those who didn’t receive this treatment.

George continues to work clinically for Heart of England NHS Trust as a senior educator, but remains passionate about education and awareness around sepsis, which she does independently of her NHS role.
