Dr Michael Serpell
Consultant & Senior Lecturer, University Dept of Anaesthesia, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
Dr Serpell is a Consultant & Senior Lecturer in both Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. He completed his training in Dundee, Orebro in Sweden and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Centre in New Hampshire, USA.
He leads Pain Research in the Clinical Trials Unit at the QEUH. He examines for the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCA) in Pain Medicine, and previously examined in Anaesthesia.
He was Council Member of the British Pain Society (BPS) and was Chair of the Local Arrangements Committee for the IASP World Congress on Pain, held in Glasgow, 2008.
He has been Senior Series Editor of “Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Medicine” since 2002. He was Block Editor for Pain for the RCA electronic Learning in Anaesthesia (eLA) project, which was awarded a gold medal. He has published 4 books, 15 chapters and over 60 original research papers.
