Dr Owen Carter

GP in London, National clinical advisor at Macmillan

Dr Owen Carter qualified in 2007 and became a General Practitioner (GP) in South London. He later specialised in oncology, becoming a GP with a Specialist Interest in Oncology at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he co-leads the Rapid Diagnostic Cancer Clinic. He is GP Partner at Lavender Hill Group Practice, Battersea and is a Primary Care Network (PCN) Director at Battersea Primary Care Network in Southwest London. He is the Clinical Lead for the Non-Site-Specific Rapid Diagnostic Cancer Pathway for RM Partners Southwest and Northwest London Cancer Alliance.

Owen joined Macmillan in 2016 as a Macmillan GP Facilitator and Clinical Borough Lead for Cancer in Wandsworth, London. He later became a GP Associate Advisor for London, before taking on the role of Primary Care Clinical Director for Southwest London at Royal Marsden Partners, the Cancer Alliance for Northwest and Southwest London.

In 2023, Owen returned to Macmillan as a Clinical Advisor for London and was appointed as Macmillan's National Clinical Advisor in 2024. He is deeply committed to improving health inequities, healthcare for LGBTQIA+ communities, and enhancing personalised care for people living with cancer.
